The Emergence of Relativism

An ERC Project at the University of Vienna
'The Emergence of Relativism' is a 5 year project (2014-2019) which brings together historical, philosophical, and sociological approaches to philosophical relativism. It's primary aims are to retrace the intellectual history of relativism in 19th and early-20th-century German-speaking philosophy and science; explain some key junctures of this intellectual history in sociological terms; and critically evaluate the central arguments (both historical and contemporary) for and against relativism.

The project is funded by the European Research Council,  hosted by the University of Vienna, and lead by Professor Martin Kusch. For more detailed information about the project's aims and methodology, please click to view the project description.

This project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) (grant agreement No 339382).
